Arashiyama … an enchanted bamboo forest

If traveling to Kyoto, a stop through Arashiyama is a must! I fell in love with this beautiful bamboo forest. It was like a magical dream amongst a peaceful enchanted forest. Arashiyama is a quick train ride taking you to the outskirts of Kyoto. Getting there early is a must or you will run into tons of tourists. I arrived at 8am and was able to take these wonderful shots with only a few people around. It was totally worth it!

We also stopped by the Iwatayama Monkey Park nearby. The fall foliage was more viewable up high. We came in mid-November but in late November you will see even more  yellow orangey leaves which are so gorgeous. Hiking to the top of the Iwatayama park you will find a nice view and be surrounded by monkeys!

I can’t wait for my next adventure! Greece and Cuba are next on the radar. Stay tuned!

Love & art in an undiscovered village

I am fascinated by architecture, colors, travel, & photography. I visited the Goat Farm Center in Atlanta and felt as though I was in a different country tucked away in a remote, undiscovered village. It had a very rustic feel with dilapidated buildings and colorful brick walls and barn doors, a home to artists, musicians, and non-profits. I enjoyed taking pictures in this playful red skirt by Anthropologie. The love inspired look on this sweet valentine’s day weekend played well with my classic “love” necklace.

Abstract Brushstroke Manicure DIY

Loving these nails which can easily be accomplished on your own. I got the inspiration from Fall for DIY (click-through for tutorial) and cheated a bit by having Lark and Sparrow Nails perform this special art on my nails! They do a fabulous job specializing in nail art and being meticulous as possible in their process. While you visit them in their cozy nail salon in Grant Park also be sure to check out some of my jewelry there too (as featured on these freshly painted fancy hands of mine).

Maxis – Easy & Effortless

I love wearing maxis – they are easy, effortless, and make a statement. This brightly colored rainbow one is perfect for the summer. I accessorized it with some simple jewelry pieces and topped off the look with these pink shimmery wedges I love!

Mint, pink, and jewels

It’s finally spring and so comes out my bright colors from my mint green heels to my hot pink crop top paired with some of my simplistic jewelry!

I’ve been digging Madewell lately. These grey jeans are super comfy and I love that they are high waisted! It’s hard to find cute jeans that are high waisted and don’t make you look like a super nerd. The best part is, Madewell will take off $20 from your purchase if you bring in an old pair of jeans (who doesn’t have some old scraggly jeans laying around??).

I also had to pick up these mint green heels which go so well with the grey in the jeans and add to my pops of color I so enjoy.

Of course, the rest of the outfit is styled with all of my own jewelry creations (all linked below).

Jou Jou in Pink

Hello pink! I would probably never think to buy pink pants but in my latest Stitch Fix, I was sent some and absolutely love them! If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix, it’s a monthly clothing subscription which doesn’t cost you anything unless you don’t end up buying at least one piece. I love it because they send me things I may not typically pick out on my own but it turns out being a fun new outfit like the one I’m wearing here!

I paired my new pink denim pants with a nude top and cute shimmery gold stiletto heels as well as a white blazer from Anthropologie. And, of course I had to accessorize with some of my very own favorite jewelry creations and my new DIY clutch which you can learn how to make on my blog or purchase here (in a smaller version).

My Everyday Jewelry Style

Lately, I find myself wearing these pieces of jewelry. They are some of my favorite creations and I wear them daily!

Pictured from front to back:

– Labradorite earrings (posting soon! I only have one more of these and will hopefully restock soon)
“Gravity” Labradorite bracelet
– 14K gold filled necklace with Druzy pendent (this is a one of a kind stone I found and will be posting similar necklaces as I acquire different stones. I have a new fascination with all these pretty sparkly stones. This one is druzy).
“Sweetest Little Heart” Ring
– Labradorite wire ring (Shop similar wire wrapped rings here)
“Fall in Love” Love Wire Ring

As you can tell I have a slight obsession with labradorite – a shimmery grey stone that I adore :)

How I styled my Stitch Fix: a personal touch of my jewelry

My monthly surprise to myself is Stitch Fix. Each month I get 5 pieces of clothing styled just for me – you just have to fill out a questionnaire about your style and you can set the budget on how much you want to spend. If you don’t like the pieces you receive, it’s so easy to return (they even provide a pre-paid envelope for the return). I’ve loved everything so far! And for someone who doesn’t shop much or doesn’t have the greatest fashion sense, it’s awesome. I will definitely be sure to post more pictures from my fixes in the future.

This past Sunday afternoon was spent with my best friend – I sported my Stitch Fix outfit and we decided to have some fun and take some pictures with my jewelry on. Here are some pictures from our jewelry/clothing shoot!

How I styled my fix:

My jeans (Faye Skinny Jean by Just Black) and blue blouse (Barcelona Solid Short Sleeve Blouse by Daniel Rainn) were from Stitch Fix. I got a super cute white blazer from Anthropologie which paired perfectly with the pop of blue. Then, of course had to wear some of my own jewelry creations. I’ve been really into rocks lately and this new necklace is a pretty crystal geode hung along a long gold chain. The bracelets I’m wearing can be found on my website here. And, love the shoes I’m wearing from BC footwear – they are pink and fun!

And here were some of our other fun shots we took wearing Jou Jou My Love jewelry.

(All pieces worn are new creations and will be posted soon!)
